I’m excited to have an opportunity to use the product featured in this latest piece for Gatewave Radio…LowViz Guide, Indoor Navigation. If you’re not familiar, well think GPS indoors. Have you ever been to a large conference center, stadium event, or even department store and just wish you had directional information at your fingertips? Now imagine you are visually impaired. This obviously adds an additional challenge to finding your way around an unfamiliar venue. Take a listen and pay close attention…we have a sponsor. I think you’ll recognize the voice. Hope you enjoy!

The third appearance on Gatewave Radio is definitely a charm for Richie Tienter and his Mom Anne. This is my third time getting to speak with them both and it’s always a pleasure…This time the focus is on the National Braille Challenge in California. Richie was invited; listen to how he did, but as usual with these two, there’s more to the story.

“Now usually I don’t do this, but…”
Today, I’m taking you on an audio tour of my production process. This is not a tutorial, just a look at how I produce non visually!
Shout out to my daughter Raven for the photo, her cameo in this piece and her featured clarinet playing!
Since the idea for this piece came from a suggestion, I thought I would invite more… If there’s anything that you want to know about or think would make for a good story topic go ahead and suggest it in the comments. If you’re interested I could even include you in the piece! For those who are shy, no worries, you can say no to that with no hard feelings.
Now on to the show…

Telephone technology in its basic form hasn’t really changed since its inception. Two people speak to one another on each end of the line. Of course we have wireless phones, cell phones and internet based phones, but the basic idea is still the same…two people speak with one another. Ultratec, a technology company changed this when they introduced the CapTel phone opening this communication to those with hearing loss. What about those with both hearing and vision loss? Ultratec has just introduced the Braille CapTel.
Listen below and help spread the word about this device that can really present improved communication possibilities for an entire community.
